Buddy the Elf rang in the new year at Asia de Cuba. On Wednesday, actor Will Ferrell popped a popper with his wife, actress Viveca Paulin, over Alaskan butterfish at the Mondrian Hotel’s tony restaurant. Cheers.... The Viper’s still quaking from Saturday’s secret Psychedelic Furs show and the club’s swinging New Year’s bash, where everyone was required to sport their finest duds. And check this: Look for the Viper’s 2004 “pin-up” girl calendar. Should be a hoot. We also hear Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson is playing the WeHo club on Jan. 22.

Ring in the bling

The monthly club Dragstrip 66 celebrates its 11th anniversary at Rudolpho’s in Silver Lake on Saturday with a “Rhinestones of the Rich and Famous” theme. Imagine the number of Liz Taylors and J. Los in the house.... Spotted: Hot young singer Kelis posing for pix in the ladies room at CJ’s, a home-style cafe on Pico Boulevard.... Bolthouse Productions’ NYE bash at the Concorde was hosted by the kids of “The O.C.” Such hotties as Benjamin MacKenzie, Adam Brody, Rachel Bilson and Samaire Armstrong mingled with actress Lauren German, director McG and Robin Antin, creator of the Pussycat Dolls. Meow.... On Sunday, don’t miss the Dusty 45s at the Bigfoot Lodge. The Seattle-based band’s rockabilly howls will leave you hootin’ for more.... And speaking of Southern comfort, we hear Matthew McConaughey likes to hang out at R.J.’s in Beverly Hills. Like Madonna, McConaughey’s a big fan of R.J.’s “bucket of bones” -- ribs served in a rounder.... There ain’t a dry eye on the scene right now. Seems everyone knew and loved Goldenvoice co-president Rick Van Santen, who died last Sunday at age 41. A memorial service is being held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Friends are encouraged to bring a flower. We recommend forget-me-nots.
