Valencia Champions Tour Event to Have Same Course and Sponsor
The PGA Tour and SBC have agreed to extend their sponsorship agreement two years for the Champions Tour SBC Classic at Valencia Country Club, tournament executive director Brian Fitzgerald said Wednesday.
The agreement also states that the tournament will be played at Valencia for the next three years. There had been discussions about moving the tournament to the newly opened TPC at Valencia, a PGA Tour-owned facility. The contract was set to expire after the tournament this year.
“One of our main goals is growing this event into one of the premier events in this area of California,” Fitzgerald said. “We have seen that type of growth over the last few years.”
The tournament moved to Valencia in 2001 after a six-year run at Wilshire Country Club and five years at Rancho Park Golf Course.
