A 10-year-old boy and his 6-year-old sister were wounded early Monday morning when a gunman fired several shots through the door of their apartment, police said.

The children, who were asleep in the living room, suffered gunshot wounds to their arms, legs and feet.

They were taken to a local hospital and were listed in stable condition Monday evening, said Officer Jason Lee, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

“The good news is they’re expected to fully recover,” Lee said.

He said police were searching for the attacker, who fled after the 3:45 a.m. shooting in the 200 block of West 41st Street.

The gunman had knocked on the door of the apartment and told the children’s father to let him in.

When the father refused, Lee said, the gunman opened fire without an apparent motive.
