A man wearing a bandanna over his face executed a takeover-style robbery at an Oxnard bank early Tuesday, the second bank robbery in Ventura County in the past five days.

The robbery occurred about 9:15 a.m. at the Midstate Bank at 121 E. Gonzales Road, authorities said. After the masked man entered the bank, he ordered all employees and customers to the floor.

The 5-foot, 5-inch bandit did not display a gun but was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, sunglasses and a dark baseball cap, in addition to the bandanna, said FBI Special Agent Leane Blevins. He took money from the bank’s two tellers before fleeing.

The county’s only other robbery this year occurred Friday at Bank of the West at 1794 S. Victoria Ave. in Ventura

The robber had the same height and build as the man described in Tuesday’s robbery and wore similar dark clothing and a mask, Blevins said. However, in the earlier case, the robber displayed a semiautomatic handgun before collecting money from two tellers.

No getaway vehicle was seen in either case.

Blevins asked anyone with information in the cases to call the FBI at 642-3995.
