OutKast is still No. 1, but Twista’s moving in

OutKast’s “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” tops the nation’s weekly album chart for the eighth time, but don’t look for the Atlanta hip-hop duo to stretch that string to nine next week.

Geoff Mayfield, director of charts for Billboard magazine, says that another rap entry, Twista’s “Kamikaze,” got off to such a fast start in its first day in stores on Tuesday that it’s considered a cinch to top next week’s chart, possibly breaking the 200,000 sales mark.

The debut album has a large audience waiting for it because Twista’s single, “Slow Jamz,” is one of the hottest rap tracks of the season.

Meanwhile, OutKast’s two-disc collection reached No. 1 Wednesday after selling another 86,000 copies last week. The album, which is widely regarded as the favorite in this year’s Grammy balloting for album of the year, has sold more than 3.5 million copies since its release in September.

The only new top 10 arrival this week was the 2004 edition of the annual Grammy nominee sampler. The CD sold 68,000 copies last week to rank No. 4.

Norah Jones’ “Feels Like Home,” the follow-up to her Grammy-winning smash “Come Away With Me,” will be released Feb. 10 and should enter the charts at No. 1.
