Farmer Who Disrupted National Mall Released
From Times Wire Reports
A tobacco farmer dubbed “Tractor Man,” who fomented chaos by crashing his tractor into a pond on the National Mall, was released from jail.
Dwight Watson, 51, shouted to reporters as he walked from the District of Columbia Jail to a waiting car and appeared to be saying, “Praise the Lord.”
A judge reduced Watson’s sentence after the Supreme Court ruled June 24 that only juries -- not judges -- could lengthen prison terms beyond the maximum set in state guidelines.
