Sales-Tax Hike Goes to Healthcare Services

Alameda County shoppers have begun to pay an additional half-cent sales tax to fund public health services.
In March, 70.8% of voters approved the tax hike to 8.75% to generate an estimated $90 million a year for the county Medical Center and private healthcare providers serving indigent and Medi-Cal patients.
