Re “More Now Carry Guns,” July 19: I found the story well researched and, as usual, twisting the data.

You failed to clearly illustrate that Los Angeles, with only 22 outstanding concealed weapons permits, has the highest violent crime rate and lowest rate of issuance of any of the government jurisdictions mentioned. Yet the jurisdictions with the highest rate of permit issues, generally, had the lowest rate of violent crime. Check out Culver City’s violent crime rate. Then check out the violent crime rate just across Venice Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Apparently these facts were not worthy of additional illustration. I challenge you to present this ratio more directly. I doubt if these facts would be considered unworthy by many of them.
