Woman Linked to Teen Slaying Is Arrested
The search for a suspect involved in the torture and killing of a Bakersfield teenager ended with the woman’s surrender, Kern County sheriff’s deputies said.
Maricruz Galaviz was wanted in connection with the slaying of Amanda Zubia, 17, whose body was found July 10 inside a metal drum. A disposable camera was found during the investigation that showed Zubia being beaten and burned with cigarettes.
Three other people charged with kidnapping, robbery, torture and gang activity in connection with the crime have pleaded not guilty and are being held without bail.
Galaviz will face the same charges, officials said after her arrest Sunday.
