Spade makes 40, ‘Dead or Alive’

Funnyman David Spade rang in his 40th birthday on Saturday with an off-the-hizza bash at Concorde, featuring all his pals singing live rock ‘n’ roll karaoke. To wit: Jon Lovitz crooned Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” Paris Hilton and Bijou Phillips sang Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up,” and Spade cajoled Ashton Kutcher into singing Bon Jovi’s “Dead or Alive” with him. Also along for the ride were Tony Hawk, Pennywise’s Byron McMackin and actor Rob Lowe. But the evening’s real highlight was a custom chocolate fondue fountain with all the trimmings.... And speaking of Concorde, Ashlee Simpson celebrated the release of her new album, “Autobiography,” by throwing a big to-do at the Hollywood hotspot on Friday. Simpson treated her guests, which included members of the hard-core motocross crew Metal Mulisha, to White Castle sliders. (OK, now I’m hungry.)

1650 snags Viper Room booker

When club Vynyl made its debut in 1999, the big ambition was to offer central Hollywood a showcase venue to rival the Viper Room. Well, dreams can come true. The nightclub, which is now known as club 1650, just hired former Viper Room booker Dayle Gloria to bring the noise. Gloria begins booking 1650 this week.... There’s still time to register your pre-1968 vehicle for this year’s Blessing of the Cars festival, set to take place at the Hansen Dam in the Valley on July 31. Just think: hot rods, hot bands, cool chicks and a priest giving his blessing. Sounds like heaven.... On Aug. 19, actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are celebrating the fifth anniversary of their Beverly Hills hotspot, the Continental.... And special kudos to Family Productions promoter Darryl Potter, who hosted a raging all-ages punk rock fiesta at the Rock-It club in Hawthorne on Saturday. Potter spent the day looking out for the best interests of the kids and keeping unruly hooligans in line. The guy’s got class.
