Boats Collide on River, Killing 10-Year-Old Boy
A 10-year-old Moorpark boy was killed Wednesday night and his father is missing and presumed dead after a collision between a catamaran and a day cruiser on the Colorado River north of Parker Dam.
Tyler Patchett, 10, sustained a major head injury in the 6 p.m. collision and died at the scene. A San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department dive team continued searching Thursday for Tyler’s father, Steven, 48.
The catamaran’s other occupant, Stephan Patchett, 18, was in critical but stable condition Thursday in a Las Vegas hospital.
