Shippey Lane Cruises Through California
California has certainly agreed with Shippey Lane.
The Maryland-bred mare has won all four of her starts at Los Alamitos and she’ll try for another win in tonight’s seventh, a $6,700 allowance for Arabians at 4 1/2 furlongs.
Owned by Mandolynn Hill Farms and trained by Billy Lewis, Shippey Lane won one of three starts in Oklahoma but has been perfect here since arriving earlier this year.
She won her first three local races at tonight’s distance, then stretched out to six furlongs and scored a 7-1 upset. Joy Scott, who has been aboard for three of her wins, has the mount again tonight.
From the inside out, her opponents are Ps Kitties Sage, Ps Sallys Sage, Tikis French Kiss, It Happens and Vialyn.
The picks: 1. Honor The Troops. Storm’s Araging. 3. Final Message. 4. Doinitforpleasure. 5. Mr Mongoose Bug. 6. Siward. 7. Shippey Lane. 8. Rubiate. 9. Br Quick Fantasy. 10. Scatter Tacs. 11. Carols Dasher.
Four! Honor The Troops and Account Of Boot in the first, Storm’s Araging and Your Lion Eyes in the second, Final Message and Rhythm With Rhythm in the third and Doinitforpleasure, Fairly Fasty and Dr Glitter in the fourth.
Shots in the dark: A Sharp Gem stretches out to 870 yards in the sixth. Like Frankie And Me is a debuting Streakin La Jolla filly in the 11th.
