Marine Killed on I-5 Freeway
A Camp Pendleton Marine was struck and killed by a car about 5 a.m. Saturday while he stopped to help a suspected drunk driver involved in a collision on the northbound Interstate 5.
The car that caused the unidentified 37-year-old Marine’s death was driven by an 18-year-old Vista woman, the California Highway Patrol said.
Authorities said an Oceanside woman was not injured and the suspected drunk driver, from Escondido, was ejected from the car with unknown injuries.
Identities of the drivers and passengers were not released.
