McKay’s stylizing
After reading and seeing Nellie McKay perform, Robert Hilburn’s review is right on (“Young Singer, Old Soul,” Feb. 29). How she stylizes a song, be it rap, jazz or pop, illustrates that her singing maturity is well beyond her 19 years.
Like Joss Stone, she sings from the heart and puts her point across slyly, almost unknowingly, but always directly on target.
Nellie will be a force to reckon with soon on the music scene. Glad she skipped “American Idol 2” and made it on her own.
Go, Nellie.
