Peterson Trial Set to Start May 17
Opening statements in Scott Peterson’s murder trial are scheduled to begin May 17, a judge said Monday.
Judge Alfred A. Delucchi also said jurors would be allowed to hear statements Peterson made to the media after the disappearance of his wife, Laci, on or about Dec. 24, 2002.
Meanwhile, the questioning of prospective jurors began Monday and is expected to last more than a month. Peterson is accused of murdering his pregnant wife and their unborn son and dumping her body in the San Francisco Bay. The bodies washed ashore nearly four months later.
