$200,000 Will Be Used to Study Contamination
The Contra Costa County Redevelopment Agency will be awarded a $200,000 federal grant to study environmental contamination, a key first step in its plans to revitalize Rodeo’s waterfront.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grant will be used to investigate hazardous waste and petroleum contamination which may be linked to past boating and industrial activities.
EPA officials will present the award to the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors in a ceremony Saturday. The grant is part of the federal government’s program to restore “brownfields” -- abandoned or underused properties idled by real or suspected contamination.
