County to Freeze Hiring Amid Funding Loss
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
SAN LUIS OBISPO
Bracing for a possible loss of $11 million in state and federal funds, county Administrator David Edge has ordered a hiring freeze for all San Luis Obispo County departments.
There could still be some limited hiring in order to fill critical positions, but Edge said he would need to approve each request.
“The noticeable hits will be in the health and mental health areas. We’re talking about some of the services being provided to the most needy,” Edge said.
The Board of Supervisors will be asked to ratify the hiring freeze next week.
