Officer Is Recovering From Gunshot Wounds

A six-year Los Angeles Police Department veteran was recovering from gunshot wounds Friday.
Officer Garrett Cross, 31, was on patrol shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of East Jefferson Boulevard when he tried to question a man who was acting suspiciously, said LAPD spokesman Don Cox.
The man ran, firing several rounds from a handgun and hitting Cross in the thigh and buttocks, police said. The suspect has been identified as Kevin Brian Haynes, 39.
