* Computer maker Hewlett-Packard Co. has agreed to pay $105 million to the Canadian government to settle a dispute over defense contracts. Both sides blamed the problem on fraud in the Canadian defense ministry and said they would cooperate in launching lawsuits against those responsible.

* Cosmo Corigliano, the former chief financial officer of Cendant Corp., agreed to pay $14 million to settle regulatory allegations that he helped supervise a fraud that led to the largest shareholder damages settlement in U.S. history.
