Freddy Adu lost his starting job, Jaime Moreno found his scoring touch, and D.C. United won for the first time since opening day.
Moreno capped a brilliant 30-yard run with a 20-yard shot that he tucked inside the right goal post in the 75th minute Saturday night to give United (2-2-3) a 1-0 victory over Kansas City (2-2-2) in front of 16,147 at Washington.
Adu, meanwhile, returned to the role of second-half substitute, playing 24 minutes, after having started the last two games -- both ties.
