O.C. Man in River Likely Drowned
From a Times Staff Writer
A man who was found dead in the Santa Ana River had apparently fallen in and drowned, coroner’s officials said Thursday.
The body of John McCullough, 70, of Orange was spotted Wednesday by an off-duty Orange County sheriff’s deputy who was riding a bike on the path above the river between Glassell Street and Lincoln Avenue, said department spokesman Jim Amormino. The body had scratches consistent with a fall into the water, he said.
