Derek Anderson threw for 351 yards and four touchdowns Saturday to give Oregon State a 50-21 victory over Oregon at Corvallis, Ore., that made the Beavers bowl eligible.

The archrivals both entered the game needing a win to qualify for a bowl berth.

While Oregon State awaits a postseason invitation, Oregon heads home with its first losing season since 1993. The Ducks had not missed the postseason since 1996, when they finished 6-5.

Anderson also ran for a score for the Beavers, who improved to 6-5 overall and 5-3 in the Pacific 10 Conference.

The home team has won the last eight games in the series.

Anderson completed 24 of 41 passes, with Mike Hass catching nine passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Alexis Serna kicked field goals of 20, 19, 32, 23 and 31 yards.

Kellen Clemens completed 13 of 29 passes for 126 yards and three touchdowns for the Ducks (5-6, 4-4). He also had three passes intercepted.

Washington State 28, Washington 25 -- Alex Brink threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score, and the Cougars (5-6, 3-5) ended a seven-year drought in the Apple Cup by edging the Huskies (1-10, 0-8) at Pullman, Wash., in Keith Gilbertson’s last game as Washington coach.

Washington went winless in conference play for the first time since 1973, when the Huskies were 2-9 and 0-7 in league.

Gilbertson, who announced his resignation three weeks ago, ended his two-year stint as Rick Neuheisel’s replacement with a record of 7-16.

Brink, a redshirt freshman, completed 15 of 24 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns, and Jerome Harrison rushed for 150 yards in 29 carries for the Cougars.
