Mad Cow Tests on Animal Not Completed

U.S. Agriculture Department scientists were still conducting tests to determine if the United States had a new case of the deadly mad cow disease. Secrecy shrouded where the suspect animal was raised or slaughtered.
Various U.S. cattle and beef industry groups said they remained in the dark about vital issues such as the age of the animal being tested and where it was born. In a brief statement issued after business hours, the USDA said testing was not yet complete.
