The New Orleans Hornets won for the first time this season, beating the Utah Jazz, 76-75, Monday night behind 20 points and 11 rebounds by Jamaal Magloire at Salt Lake City.

The Hornets improved to 1-8 after Andrei Kirilenko missed two free-throw attempts with 4.4 seconds left and Gordan Giricek’s jumper at the buzzer bounced off the rim.

Lee Nailon scored 16 points in his first start for the Hornets and ran to hug New Orleans Coach Byron Scott when it was finally over. The Hornets also spoiled the evening for the crowd of 19,911 on the night John Stockton’s No. 12 was retired.
