The canon for canines

Share

The second edition of the Zagat-like guide for dog owners in Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties lists every imaginable (and many you could never think up) dog-related resource and service, including emergency facilities, boarding, grooming, training, day cares, boutiques and supply stores. Useful appendixes include Internet resources, animal shelters and veterinarians who will perform in-home euthanasia on terminally ill pets.

Listings include Ina, a former rehabilitation nurse who offers canine massage therapy; a doggie spa called Chateau Marmutt that provides aromatherapy grooming; and West Hollywood’s Heavy Petting Pet Boutique, which features such dog delights as petits fours colored with vegetable juice extracts, doggie cappuccino (a protein supplement) and a four-poster bed for your pup.

The main section’s nine area directories list services for each location alphabetically when it would make more sense to break them down by type of service. Each entry includes address, hours, forms of payment accepted and a description.

This useful book is proof positive that Angelenos are nuts for their mutts. Or maybe just nuts.
