Stefan LeFors completed his first 13 passes, threw for one touchdown and ran for another Friday night in No. 15 Louisville’s 41-9 victory over South Florida in a Conference USA game at Louisville, Ky.

LeFors completed 21 of 26 passes for 242 yards to help the Cardinals (5-1, 3-0 Conference USA) rebound from a 41-38 loss last week at Miami.

“It was just one of those nights out there, throwing the ball and not worrying about anything else,” LeFors said.

LeFors, completing 75.6% of his passes entering the game, lost his perfect game when J.R. Russell missed on a diving try with 1 minute 3 seconds left in the first half. Art Carmody salvaged the drive with a 34-yard field goal that gave the Cardinals a 27-3 halftime lead.

Russell finished with eight catches for 111 yards, his eighth career 100-yard receiving game.

Louisville, third in the nation in total offense, had 517 yards.

The sputtering Bulls (2-4, 1-3) finished with 203 yards and 13 first downs -- with most of the production coming late in the game. The Bulls gained only 40 yards in 27 plays in the first half.

Wisconsin defensive end Erasmus James will sit out today’s game against Northwestern.

James, who leads the Big Ten with seven sacks, suffered a sprained ankle last Saturday against Purdue when Boilermaker tight end Charles Davis dived at his feet on a running play.

Badger defensive coordinator Bret Bielema said James was victimized by a chop block, which is illegal, and said he sent tapes of the play to the Big Ten office for review. Purdue Coach Joe Tiller called the play legal. Starting for James will be sophomore Joe Monty.
