Come on, flip-floppers. No more beating around the Bush/Kerry question. What are you waiting for? That perfect attack ad? One last Social Security actuarial table? Additional global-warming data? The terrorists to un-enrich their uranium? Stem cell research to cure hypocrisy? To quote Dana Carvey, quoting George the First: “Not gonna happen.”

After months of position papers, posturing, pitching and proselytizing, the unpolarized among the polled no longer look serious, just seriously foolish. The middle of the road is filled with deer staring into the headlines.

I’m starting to suspect that the uncertain center is just unassertively self-centered, waiting for divine guidance to discern the answer to some narcissistic Reagan rewrite: “Who might make me think I’m better off in four years than I think I am now?”

As they say on the front lines in Afghanistan and Iraq, freedom brings responsibility. Enough paralysis of analysis. Figure it out and make a decision before the Supreme Court does it for you.
