Seattle’s Big Rally Pays Off

Lauren Jackson scored 25 points Wednesday night as Seattle rallied from a 13-point deficit and defeated Phoenix, 73-58, at Seattle.

The Storm secured second place in the Western Conference and home court in the first round of the playoffs. Seattle is 13-2 at home.

Phoenix, led by rookie Diana Taurasi with 20 points, has lost three in a row and is a half-game ahead of Sacramento for the final playoff spot in the West. Phoenix has two games remaining and Sacramento three.

Betty Lennox was the only other Storm player in double figures with 10 points, but nine other teammates scored.

Seattle overcame a dreadful first half where it shot only 30%. At one point, Seattle had more turnovers (13) than points (12).

Connecticut 81, Charlotte 67 -- The Sun clinched a playoff spot for the second consecutive season behind Nykesha Sales’ season-high 28 points at Charlotte, N.C.

Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 19 points and 10 rebounds for Connecticut, which has won four in a row.

Tammy Sutton-Brown tied a career high with 22 points, and Allison Feaster and Tynesha Lewis added 15 apiece for Charlotte.

Washington 84, San Antonio 73 -- Alana Beard scored 22 points at San Antonio to lead the Mystics to their fourth win in a row.

Adrienne Goodson and LaToya Thomas each had 20 for the Silver Stars, who have lost 11 of 13.
