Ryan Killeen has made only one of four field-goal attempts this season, but USC’s kicker said Monday that he remains confident.

Killeen missed 43- and 49-yard attempts in top-ranked USC’s 42-10 victory over Brigham Young. The Trojans open Pacific 10 Conference play on Saturday at Stanford.

“I’m not worried about anything,” said Killeen, a senior who made 19 of 24 field-goal attempts last season. “I missed a couple kicks, I can’t take it back, I just have to move on.

“There’s 10 more games left. A lot of good season left to come for me.”

Coach Pete Carroll said he intended to speak with linebacker Matt Grootegoed regarding last season’s game against Stanford, when Grootegoed suffered a high ankle sprain that resulted from what several Trojan players described as a cheap shot.

Carroll said he did not expect Grootegoed -- or any other player -- to retaliate.

“That doesn’t fit in line with how we ever approach stuff,” Carroll said.

Officials at BYU and USC made changes to game statistics in several categories because intentional grounding penalties were not scored correctly.

Among the changes, USC defensive lineman Shaun Cody was credited with an additional sack, quarterback Matt Leinart’s pass attempts were reduced to 34 and the Trojans’ rushing yardage was reduced from 291 to 278. Total yards were reduced from 527 to 513. Also, USC defensive lineman Rashaad Goodrum was credited with a sack that had been credited to Jeff Schweiger.

Defensive lineman Manuel Wright was not at practice because of “some personal stuff he had to do,” Carroll said. Offensive lineman Fred Matua was absent because of a family situation, a school official said.
