Fans of radio station Indie 103.1 FM will notice nothing different in what they hear on the outlet today, and that’s big news.

Today is the first day of the station’s new life without its ad sales partner, Clear Channel Entertainment, which terminated its joint sales agreement with the station’s owner because of revised federal regulations.

For the record:

Clear Channel -- An article in Friday’s Calendar about the end of a joint sales agreement between radio station Indie 103.1 (KDLD-FM and KDLE-FM) and its advertising partner identified the partner as Clear Channel Entertainment. In fact, the division that had been handling the station’s ad sales was Clear Channel Radio.

That put in jeopardy a freewheeling format that made 103.1, according to Rolling Stone, “America’s coolest commercial station.” It simulcasts from Newport Beach and Santa Monica under the tandem call letters KDLD-FM and KDLE-FM.

But Entravision announced Thursday that it will keep the music as well as its on-air lineup, including former Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones.

Entravision President Jeff Lieberman said the deciding factor “was the reception of this station by our audience and advertisers.”

Lieberman said Entravision has established its own sales department for Indie 103.1 and that all of the existing sponsors will continue with their ads.
