More Civil Discourse on Mark Helprin

Thank you for the article about my favorite author, Mark Helprin (“Dressing Down the Primitives,” by John Anderson, March 13). His literary talents are immense, and I will forgive him his political leanings. Unlike Tom Clancy, who preaches his right-wing ideology in his most current novels, Helprin takes us on such wonderful flights of fancy that we forget the mundane fight between the left and the right. And I do believe he is the perfect conservative . . . silent.
