A man waiting for a bus in Southwest Los Angeles was critically injured Thursday when a carload of suspected gang members fired on a group of rivals at a McDonald’s restaurant, authorities said.
The shooting occurred at 3:50 p.m. near the intersection of South La Brea Avenue and Rodeo Road, said Los Angeles Police Officer Kristi Sandoval. A group of suspected gang members in a blue Neon in the restaurant’s parking lot began making gang signs and yelling at other suspected gang members sitting under umbrellas nearby, Sandoval said.
The car approached the men slowly, and then someone in the vehicle began shooting.
“A bystander at a bus stop was hit in the mouth or the face and transported to a local hospital in critical condition,” Sandoval said. The men fled and the Neon was last seen speeding east on Rodeo Road.
The victim was described only as a man in his 30s.
