From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A man convicted of stabbing a Brea teenager to death after watching a taping of a television comedy show in 1998 was sentenced Thursday to 51 years to life in state prison.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Robert Martinez imposed the sentence on Robert Anthony Marquez, 27, for the murder of Bryan Thorne, 17. Marquez was convicted June 3.

Prosecutors believe that Marquez dismembered the boy’s body and threw it into a trash container. The body has not been found, and the motive for the murder has never been clear.
