The Baltimore Ravens’ Pro Bowl middle linebacker is scheduled to undergo surgery today in South Florida to repair his torn right hamstring, a league source told the Baltimore Sun on Tuesday night.

Figure skating -- A Newswire item in Wednesday’s Sports section said Michelle Kwan was a five-time U.S. figure skating champion. She is a five-time world champion and a nine-time U.S. champion.

It marks the second time in four years that an injury has significantly cut short Lewis’ season.

Lewis suffered the hamstring tear in the Ravens’ 10-6 loss to the Chicago Bears on Oct. 23, causing him to sit out the last six games. The Ravens (4-8), who have four games left in their disappointing season, probably will place Lewis on injured reserve this week.

Lewis, 30, could not be reached for comment.

This situation mirrors one in 2002, when Lewis decided to have shoulder surgery during the season. He was sidelined for 11 games that season.

Philadelphia Eagle Pro Bowl running back Brian Westbrook will sit out the rest of the NFL season because of a foot injury.

Westbrook hurt his foot in the first half of Monday’s 42-0 loss to Seattle. An MRI exam Tuesday confirmed that he had a type of sprain more common in automobile accidents and equestrian sports.

Westbrook, who signed a five-year, $25-million contract extension last month, leads the Eagles with 617 yards rushing and three touchdowns. He also had a team-high 61 catches for 616 yards and four touchdowns.
