Seimone Augustus scored 23 points and became the fourth player in Louisiana State women’s basketball history to score 2,000 points Monday night, leading the No. 3-ranked Tigers to a 72-41 victory over New Orleans at Baton Rouge, La.

Augustus entered the game eight points shy of the milestone and scored seven in the first six minutes. She made a short jump shot in the lane with 5:08 left in the first half to surpass the mark.

“It seems like I just scored my 1,000th point,” Augustus said. “It really isn’t a big deal. I’m just glad to be a part of history and get another accomplishment here.”

Some 200 people were in the parking lot outside Adams’ apartment complex at about 2 a.m. and a party apparently erupted into fighting, along with drinking and dancing on cars, according to police.

Adams reportedly became involved in an argument between a woman and her former boyfriend, the woman told police.

A Tucson police spokesman said Adams, a 21-year-old senior guard, was ticketed and released after he refused to leave when officers told him to go home.

Arizona athletic department spokesman Richard Paige said Coach Lute Olson was out of town recruiting and not immediately available for comment. Paige said it was premature to say whether Adams would face disciplinary action.

The 6-foot-4 Adams is averaging 18.3 points for the 24th-ranked Wildcats. He is also the team’s second-leading rebounder, averaging 7.3 per game.
