NEW YORK — Sal Nunziato and Tony Sachs will continue their monthly newsletter -- a shopper’s guide that can be found at nycdonline.com. Here are some excerpts from past newsletters:
* “Original Bootlegs” by Tori Amos -- A great Christmas gift if you know one of her twelve remaining fans!
* “A Bigger Bang” by the Rolling Stones -- Get past the fact that they’re money-grubbing humps, and buy one of the best rock albums of the year.
* “The Alternative to Love” by Brendan Benson -- Great melodies, great hooks, great lyrics, so of course it sells about three copies.
* “Lost Treasures” by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass -- It’ll stick with you like the stray pieces of Twizzler you pull out of your teeth days after you saw “Collateral.”
* “Get Lifted” by John Legend -- It’s not a bad album, but the guy sounds about as much like Marvin Gaye as Robert Goulet does.
* “The Great American Songbook Vol. 4” by Rod Stewart -- We say many things about many artists that many people think we should not say. But dear God in heaven, make him stop.
* “Catchall” by Swag -- Everything you love by the Hollies, the Beatles and Squeeze, all wrapped up in one. Played this twice a day for six months. Made many enemies.
* “Lafayette Marquis” by C.C. Adcock -- From the swamps of Louisiana comes this slice of bayou heaven. Played this twice a day for six months. Made no enemies, because by this time the customers had stopped coming in.
