Raymond Griffith, 58; Veteran Journalist Was News Exec in Riverside

Raymond M. Griffith, 58, assistant managing editor of the Press-Enterprise of Riverside, died Wednesday at Redlands Community Hospital after a heart attack.

Griffith was hired in 2002 to head the newspaper’s recruitment and training efforts.

His 35-year career included stints as executive news editor of the Sun in San Bernardino and managing editor of the Record Searchlight in Redding.

He was managing editor of the Desert Sun in Palm Springs from 1987 to 1998.

A native of Northern California, Griffith earned an associate of arts degree from Shasta Community College and studied journalism at the University of Oregon.
