Carpool Congestion

Re “Hybrids Await Their Turn on the Fast Track,” Behind the Wheel, Feb. 1: Though it would be great to sail past the parking lot of cars on the freeway as a Prius owner in the carpool lane, in a few years there will be many more hybrids as manufacturers jump on the bandwagon, and the carpool lane will be as jammed as the freeway. The carpool lane mentality is but a tiny Band-Aid, when what we need is a vast public transportation system. What about a rail system built over the freeways?
