Wie Will Be in Women’s British Open
Michelle Wie, the 15-year-old 10th-grader from Honolulu, will play in the Women’s British Open in July at Royal Birkdale in England. She already had entered the three other women’s professional majors: the Kraft Nabisco Championship next month at Mission Hills, the McDonald’s LPGA Championship and the U.S. Women’s Open.
Wie, who played the men’s Sony Open on the PGA Tour last month and missed the cut by seven shots, is one of four amateurs who have accepted special exemptions from the Ladies’ Golf Union.
Wie has played once before in England, in the 2004 Curtis Cup matches.
