49ers Work Extra to Win
Cody Pearson made a layup with 24 seconds left in overtime, and host Long Beach State went on to beat UC Davis, 77-73, Monday night.
Pearson’s layup put the 49ers ahead, 74-71, but Davis’ Ryan Moore followed with a layup with 14.8 seconds left. Kevin Houston made two free throws to put the 49ers ahead, 76-73, with 14 seconds left.
Pearson, who finished with 10 points, made one of two free throws for the game’s final points.
It was the fourth consecutive victory for the 49ers (7-18), who avenged a 78-74 overtime loss to the Aggies (10-16) in January.
