Michigan State Gets Share of Title

Kelli Roehrig had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Michigan State earned at least a share of the program’s second Big Ten Conference title with a 77-34 win over Michigan in its regular-season finale Wednesday at East Lansing, Mich.

The No. 6 Spartans, who improved to 25-3 overall and 14-2 in the conference, can earn their first outright conference championship if Ohio State loses at Purdue tonight, then beats visiting Penn State on Sunday.

Michigan State ended its regular season with nine straight wins and a 13-0 mark at home.

Michigan (5-21, 1-14), which lost to Michigan State for the sixth straight time, was led by Ta’Shia Walker’s eight points.

No. 6 Baylor 70, Kansas 60 -- Steffanie Blackmon had 20 points and Sophia Young had 18 points and nine rebounds in a Big 12 game at Lawrence, Kan., for the Bears (22-3, 12-2) to stretch their school-record winning streak to nine games.

Aquanita Burras, a senior playing her last home game for the Jayhawks (12-13, 5-9),tied her career high with 24 points.

No. 13 Texas 83, Colorado 40 -- Heather Schreiber scored 17 points and the Longhorns (18-7, 11-3) forced 20 first-half turnovers in a Big 12 victory over the Buffaloes (8-17, 1-13) at Austin, Texas.

No. 14 Texas Tech 83, Oklahoma 70 -- Erin Grant scored a season-high 21 points, and LaToya Davis had 16 of her 20 in the second half to lead the Red Raiders (20-5, 11-3) over the Sooners (15-10, 7-7) in a Big 12 game at Norman, Okla.

Davis scored six points during a 16-4 surge to start the second half and put Texas Tech in control.

No. 17 Kansas State 94, Nebraska 69 -- Laurie Koehn scored 22 points for the Wildcats (19-6, 10-4), who shot 58% from the field and rode a 26-4 run to beat the Cornhuskers (16-10, 8-6) in a Big 12 game at Lincoln, Neb.

Kansas State trailed, 19-17, with 9:39 left in the first half, but Nebraska made only two more baskets before halftime.

No. 21 Iowa State 76, Missouri 70 -- Anne O’Neil made two three-point baskets in the last 90 seconds to lead the Cyclones (20-5, 10-4) over the Tigers (9-16, 3-11) in a Big 12 game at Columbia, Mo.
