KEYS TO THE GAME

Share

Gary Klein’s keys to the game, and how the Trojans measured up:

1. Stop the running game. After Oklahoma’s first drive of the game, USC’s defense controlled the line of scrimmage and contained Sooner running back Adrian Peterson. Oklahoma was forced to pass and USC intercepted quarterback Jason White three times.

2. Establish the run. The Trojans struggled early but were able to feature their ground attack with LenDale White and Reggie Bush, who combined to rush for 193 yards and two touchdowns, both by White.

3. Special ending. Kicker Ryan Killeen continued his season-ending hot streak on field goals, making both attempts, including a 44-yarder. Punter Tom Malone was solid with a 43.5 average in four punts, including three inside the 20-yard line.
