The Board of Supervisors approved spending $1.5 million Tuesday to help as many as 2,000 homeless families on welfare find temporary shelter.

The money will be used to provide hotel vouchers that families can collect from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority through June.

In addition, the board allocated $60,000 to identify other homeless families and children who do not get the aid they qualify for.
