Lawyer Seeks to Void Pellicano’s Sentence
An attorney for celebrity private detective Anthony Pellicano asked a federal appeals court Thursday to overturn his conviction for possession of explosives.
Defense lawyer Donald Re contended during a hearing before a U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals panel that FBI agents had no legal grounds to search Pellicano’s Sunset Strip offices and seize the explosives. A government lawyer argued that the agents acted in good faith.
The 60-year-old Pellicano is serving a 30-month sentence at a federal prison in Tracy, Calif.
