Spurs Ride Wave of Ginobili’s 48 Points

Manu Ginobili spoiled Steve Nash’s return to the Phoenix Sun lineup.

Ginobili scored a career-high 48 points and the Spurs rallied from a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to hand the Suns their sixth consecutive loss, 128-123, in overtime, on Friday night at Phoenix.

Tim Duncan had 30 points and 19 rebounds for the Spurs, who became the first team to beat Phoenix twice this season.

Nash had 16 points and 13 assists in 46 minutes after sitting out the last 3 1/2 games because of injuries.

Shawn Marion scored 37 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the Suns. His three-point basket at the fourth-quarter buzzer sent the game into overtime. Amare Stoudemire, coming off a season-low eight-point game on Wednesday, scored 35.

Earlier in the day, the Suns added veteran scorer Jim Jackson to their young roster by trading swing man Casey Jacobsen, 23, and forwards Maciej Lampe, 19, and Jackson Vroman, 23, to the New Orleans Hornets.

Indiana 106, Miami 100 -- Jamaal Tinsley scored 30 points, including a jumper to force overtime, and Reggie Miller made a pair of three-pointers in the extra session at Miami to help the Pacers win their first meeting with the Heat since last season’s Eastern Conference semifinals.

Tinsley hit an awkward shot over Miami’s Keyon Dooling to tie the score with 0.9 seconds left in regulation. Miller opened the overtime scoring with a three-pointer, then had another for a 101-96 Indiana lead with 1:36 left.

Miami shot 48.1% from the field but made only 47.2% of its free throws (17 for 36).

Chicago 95, Atlanta 85 -- Kirk Hinrich had 23 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, and Antonio Davis had a season-high 17 points to lead the Bulls at Chicago.

Leading 74-71, Chicago went on a 21-7 run at the start of the fourth quarter. Hinrich scored eight points in the span and passed to Eddy Curry for an alley-oop dunk, giving the Bulls a 95-78 lead with 4:25 left.

Curry scored 18 points for Chicago, which has won six straight at home.

Washington 118, Toronto 109 -- Antawn Jamison had 26 points and 13 rebounds, and Juan Dixon scored 26 at Washington for the Wizards, who raced to a 15-point first-quarter lead then withstood a Jalen Rose-led comeback in the second half.

Dixon, who started for the injured Larry Hughes during the Texas road trip, returned to his sixth-man role and made 11 of 16 shots.

Rose scored a season-high 32 points off the bench.

Houston 92, New York 91 -- Scott Padgett made an off-balance, one-hander from just inside the free-throw line at the buzzer to give the Rockets a victory over the slumping Knicks at New York. The Knicks have lost nine of 10.

New Jersey 104, Boston 98 -- Jason Kidd made a crucial three-point shot just before the shot clock expired with 57.9 seconds to play at East Rutherford, N.J., and the Nets posted their season-high third straight win.

Milwaukee 89, Detroit 86 -- Mike James scored 20 points and the Bucks won when Richard Hamilton missed a desperation three-pointer at the buzzer at Milwaukee.

Dallas 105, Charlotte 99 -- Michael Finley and Dirk Nowitzki scored 20 points each at Charlotte, N.C., to lead the Mavericks to their fourth consecutive win.

Denver 92, Memphis 82 --Earl Boykins had another big game for the Nuggets, finishing with 25 points and a season-high 10 assists in a victory at Denver.

Minnesota 112, Seattle 107 -- Wally Szczerbiak scored a season-high 34 points as the Timberwolves handed the SuperSonics their second consecutive loss at home.
