Augustus, Currie Top List
Louisiana State’s Seimone Augustus and Duke’s Monique Currie are among the top 20 players on the John R. Wooden Award midseason women’s list.
Augustus is averaging 20 points for the Tigers, and Currie is averaging 17.9 points and 7.6 rebounds for the Blue Devils.
Also included are Minnesota’s Janel McCarville, Baylor’s Steffanie Blackmon, Texas Christian’s Sandora Irvin, Stanford’s Candice Wiggins and UCLA’s Noelle Quinn, who is sidelined three to six weeks because of injury.
The rest of the top 20: Notre Dame’s Jacqueline Batteast, Michigan State’s Lindsay Bowen, Ohio State’s Jessica Davenport, Vanderbilt’s Ashley Earley, Oklahoma’s Dionnah Jackson, Texas’ Tiffany Jackson, LSU’s Temeka Johnson, DePaul’s Khara Smith, Utah’s Kim Smith, Kansas State’s Kendra Wecker, Mississippi State’s Tan White, Penn State’s Tanisha Wright and Baylor’s Sophia Young.
The women’s Wooden Award will be presented April 9 at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
