Under the direction of first-year Coach Mark Trakh, the Trojans might be the surprise team of the Pac-10. The youngest team in the conference with 10 freshmen and sophomores, USC is in second place after being picked to finish seventh in preseason polls.

USC jumped to a 13-3 advantage and eventually led by 14 points in the first half as Oregon State went the first seven minutes without a field goal.

Oregon 78, UCLA 71 -- Brandi Davis came off the bench to score a game-high 28 points and Corrie Mizusawa added 11 for the Ducks at Eugene, Ore.

Lisa Willis led the Bruins (12-7, 6-4) with 24 points, and Amanda Livingston and Nikki Blue scored 15 each.

Oregon (13-6, 6-4) used a 15-2 run midway through the second half to build a 58-48 lead.

Stanford 82, Washington 60 -- Brooke Smith scored 20 points and freshman Candice Wiggins added 10 in the second half for the No. 4 Cardinal at Seattle.

Smith, a transfer from Duke, had 10 points in each half as Stanford (18-2, 9-1) won its ninth straight game since losing Dec. 29 at Oregon. Stanford has won four straight against the Huskies (8-12, 4-6).
