Fullerton Offense Is Too Much for UCSB

Ralphy Holmes scored 20 points Saturday to lead host Cal State Fullerton to a 68-59 Big West Conference victory over UC Santa Barbara in a matchup of the conferences’ top offensive and defensive teams.

Holmes scored six points in a 15-0 Fullerton run, turning a close game into a 55-38 Titan lead with 8 minutes 58 seconds remaining.

Jamaal Brown added 13 points and a season-high 14 rebounds for Fullerton, and Yaphett King scored 14 points.

Fullerton (10-7, 5-4 Big West) averages 77 points in conference play, and UCSB (7-11, 4-6) has given up an average of 58 points.

Utah State 75, Long Beach State 44 -- David Pak scored a career-high 19 points and three other Utah State players scored in double figures in Long Beach.

Utah State (15-5, 6-3) shot 65% from the field in the first half and defeated the 49ers (3-16, 1-8) for the seventh straight time and 11 of the last 13.

Chris Jenkins led the 49ers with 10 points.

UC Irvine 71, Idaho 70 -- Ross Schraeder scored all of his 17 points in the second half and made two free throws with 13.7 seconds left to give UC Irvine a home victory.

Schraeder made five of seven shots from three-point range. Aaron Fitzgerald added 16 points and Jeff Gloger scored 13 points for the Anteaters (10-7, 4-5), who have won four of their last five.

Dandrick Jones made 13 of 24 shots to finish with 31 points for the Vandals (7-13, 5-4).

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 90, UC Riverside 81 -- Center Phil Johnson and forward Jeff Enzweiler each scored 20 points, leading Cal Poly San Luis Obispo at Riverside.

The win ended an eight-game losing streak for Cal Poly (4-14, 2-8). UC Riverside (7-11, 3-6) suffered its first home conference loss this season.

Johnson and Enzweiler were just two of six Cal Poly players to score in double figures.

Cal State Northridge 94, UC Davis 72 -- Davin White had 19 points and Ian Boylan 17 points for Cal State Northridge at Davis.

Sal Vance had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Matadors (10-9), who took charge early by forcing 15 turnovers and making 68% of their shots in the first half on the way to a 47-32 lead.

Northridge scored 18 consecutive points in the half with a trapping defense.

Fowzi Abdelsamad scored 25 points for the Aggies (8-11).
