Eric Young had three hits, knocked in a run and scored one in his first game in nearly three months, and Ben Johnson had a two-run double for his first big league hit to lead the San Diego Padres to a 5-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night at San Diego.

The victory, which ended the Giants’ four-game winning streak, kept the Padres’ lead in the West Division at 4 1/2 games over Arizona and extended their advantage to 5 1/2 over the Dodgers.

Young was activated from the 60-day disabled list earlier Saturday. He dislocated his right shoulder in the home opener April 7 when he crashed into the center-field fence while making a catch.

Batting leadoff and playing second base, Young singled and scored during a four-run third, then hit an RBI single in the fourth.

Washington 4, Chicago 2 -- Tony Armas won a road start for the first time in more than two years, and the Nationals extended their winning streak to five games. Armas (4-4) hadn’t won a road start since April 10, 2003 -- at Wrigley Field -- and had been 0-6 in 10 starts since. He went five-plus innings, yielding seven hits and two runs. Chad Cordero pitched a perfect ninth inning for his major league-leading 29th save.

Colorado 3, St. Louis 1 -- Brad Hawpe’s two-run single in the sixth broke up a scoreless game at St. Louis. The Rockies have won two of the first three games in the four-game series, moving into position for their first road series win of the year. They are 0-11-1 in road series.

Houston 4-6, Cincinnati 3-11 -- A throwing error by Astro starter Ezequiel Astacio, recalled from triple-A Round Rock earlier in the day, led to four unearned runs in the second game at Cincinnati, helping the Reds end a six-game losing streak.

Philadelphia 6, Atlanta 3 -- Brett Myers took a shutout into the ninth inning at Philadelphia and the Phillies won for only the third time in 13 games. Adam LaRoche singled in the second, but Myers (6-4) retired the next 20 batters before Wilson Betemit singled to center leading off the ninth.

Florida 7, New York 3 -- Juan Encarnacion had four hits and three RBIs to lead the Marlins at Shea Stadium. Florida took advantage of an error by fill-in first baseman Jose Offerman and scored four times in the sixth.
