Scrushy’s Acquittal Could Turn Off Believers

Share

Regarding “Scrushy Might Contest His Firing,” June 30:

So HealthSouth founder, “Christian” TV host, “Christian” philanthropist and sometime preacher Richard M. Scrushy is acquitted in his hometown of Birmingham, Ala.

This self-styled “financial genius” walked away from court a free man (“I didn’t know”), while his underlings will serve sentences for a $2.7-billion accounting fraud.

Now, hypocrite Scrushy has the audacity to state that there are “a lot of wrongs that need to be made right,” one of which is he wants his job back as chief executive to the very company he has -- at the very least -- terribly mismanaged. If this is an example of “God’s grace,” -- as I’m sure Scrushy and his friends believe -- there must be a lot of honest and ethical businesspeople out there considering atheism.

These corporate big shots simply don’t get it.

Case in point: Richard Scrushy was acquitted in the $2.7-billion accounting fraud case against HealthSouth.

Now he wants to sue the company for allegedly illegally firing him. Hey, the jury found you not guilty. Nobody said that you are innocent. Be happy and enjoy the millions and millions you have, whether you got them legally or illegally, and shut up.
